Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why does it say ‘Poor flying conditions’ in the Forecast page?

We evaluate various factors such as wind speed, temperature, and precipitation (chance of rain or snow) to assess flight safety. If any one of these factors exceeds safe thresholds, it is highlighted in red, and as a result, we consider the overall flying conditions as Poor. This means that just one condition marked in red is enough to classify the flying conditions as unfavorable. You have the option to customize these thresholds in the Settings Page to better align with your drone’s capabilities and your flying preferences.

What does Kp Index mean, and why is it relevant?

The Kp Index measures geomagnetic disturbances caused by solar activity, which can affect GPS and navigation systems in drones. A low Kp Index (0-3) indicates calm geomagnetic conditions, while a high index (6 or above) suggests strong disturbances. For drone pilots, a higher Kp Index can adversely affect GPS and navigation systems, potentially impacting flight stability. By including this index, our app helps you assess solar activity-related risks to ensure safer flight planning.

The app is always showing ‘Poor flying conditions’, why is that?

If Poor Flying Conditions appear frequently, consider adjusting the safety thresholds in the settings to better suit your drone and requirements. If the weather forecast seems inaccurate, please ensure the address entered in the search bar on the forecast page is correct. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact us at support@dronecast.app.

Is this app suitable for all types of drones and UAVs?

Yes, our app is designed to be compatible with and useful for all types of drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Whether you are flying a recreational quadcopter or a professional-grade drone, our app provides essential weather and no-fly zone information that is critical for safe and compliant operation. The customizable settings allow you to tailor the app’s features to your specific drone’s capabilities and your flying preferences.

What should I do if the weather forecast seems incorrect?

Weather forecasts can be unpredictable and subject to change. If the forecast seems off, first ensure you’ve selected the correct location in the search bar at the top of the forecast page. You can also refresh the forecast by pulling down on the screen to update it. If discrepancies continue, we recommend cross-referencing with other weather services. Always be prepared for varying conditions and check the forecast regularly, especially closer to your flight time. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact us at support@dronecast.app.

I’ve found a no-fly zone area, but it’s not showing on your map. Can it be added?

Our no-fly zones are provided by DJI. If you discover an area that should be marked as a no-fly zone but isn’t currently on our map, please contact DJI with the details. They continuously update their no-fly zone data and appreciate user input to enhance their service.

Is there any way I can get a forecast for more than 2 days?

Yes! While our free plan offers a 2-day forecast, you can subscribe to Dronecast Pro for a comprehensive 7-day forecast. This premium service is available with a monthly or yearly payment.

How can I provide feedback about the app?
